Support to agricultural co-operative development in Eritrea, to be performed three times: 2000, 2001, 2002 In association with LOK (the Danish institute of organisational and human resource development in the agricultural sector) and ScanAgri A/S. Participants: Key persons from government and private enterprises in the emerging co-operative movement in agricultural production in Eritrea. Objective: To give the participants a professional competence to guide and supervise the formation of sustainable Co-operatives and Farmers’ Associations in Eritrea, and to train others in duties within management and training. To improve the participants’ capacity to plan, analyse, monitor and suggest corrective action in business endeavours. To sustain the participants’ understanding of what is co-operative philosophy and practice – with special emphasis on cross-cutting issues like democratic rights, gender, participation, and sustainability. Objective: The overall aim of the course is to give the participants a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge, which will enable them to identify, plan, and introduce efficient and effective management systems in an Agricultural enterprise, based upon an understanding of modern management theories. It should be particularly underlined that the aim of the course is specifically not to teach "modern Agricultural practices", but to go deep into an analysis of the presently employed systems within a sub-sector, a project or enterprise, with the aim of revealing weak points and scope for improvement, and thereby creating a basis for introduction of planned changes. To clarify the participants’ demands and expectations in relation to the future Training Model for Farmers in Zimbabwe. To give the participants a forum for discussion of advantages and disadvantages of different approaches to the training of farmers, in relation to the situation and demands of Zimbabwe. To equip the participants with knowledge and techniques which will make the process of developing the Training Model for Farmers in Zimbabwe more efficient and effective.
